The ride of Android’s popularity continues, as new data from Kantar Worldpanel shows that in the twelve weeks preceding June 10, Android phones has higher sales numbers than all other phones combined, in several markets around the world. The highest numbers were from Spain, where a whopping 84.1% of phones sold were running the Android OS.

In the USA, Android accounted for 50.2% of smartphone sales, with iOS a distant second with 37.4% of the market. This is actually a lower percentage of Android dominance than at this time last year, due to the iPhone 4 and 4S finally making it to the Sprint network. In European markets, entry level smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy Ace have led the charge, getting plenty of first-time smartphone buyers on board with Android.
