Sony Starts Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Update for 2011 Xperia Smartphone Line-up
The problem with Android smartphones is that they don’t all get the latest software updates at the same time. For example, most of the Android devices around are still running Android Gingerbread 2.3, whereas the latest software, Android 4.0 is only available on a few devices. Users of the 2011 lineup of Sony Xperia phones are in luck however, as the company has officially started to roll out the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update.

Sony’s 2011 Xperia smartphones that will get the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update include the Xperia Arc S, Xperia Neo V and the Xperia Ray. The updates will start rolling out today, but only for residents in Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Finland and Norway.
Starting from today (13th April), we’re beginning the Sony software upgrade including the uplift to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for our 2011 Xperia™ smartphones.
The company has also stated that the other Xperia phones in the lineup, Xperia PLAY, Xperia Mini, Xperia Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, Xperia Active and Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman, will get their updates at the end of May or the starting of June. To update you device now, connect it to your Mac or PC and download the update from here or use the PC companion.
