Griffin Announces New Charge/Sync Cables With Lightning Connector, Available Next Week

Early last week Griffin announced an updated version of their PowerJolt SE Car charger with Lightning connector. Now they’ve announced a bunch of charging/sync cables for the latest Apple devices with Lightning connectors.

These new Lightning cables from Griffin are compatible with the new iPhone 5, iPad 4th generation, iPad Mini, iPod Touch 5th generation and iPod Nano 7th generation. There are four different versions of the charge/sync cable, which come with a full-sized USB Type-A connection and Lightning tip on either ends. These are not Lightning accessories, but only a charge/sync cable with a Lightning connector. It’s always nice to have an extra set of cables just in case and that are nicely priced. Yes, they are Apple-certified, so you won’t have to worry about blowing up your iPhone or iPad Mini.

Griffin Technology Charge/Sync Cables with Lightning Connector

Below are the different cables that you can choose from:

  • 2′ straight USB-to-Lightning connector cable – $16.99
  • 3′ straight USB-to-Lightning connector cable – $18.99
  • 4′ coiled USB-to-Lightning connector cable – $24.99
  • 9.8′ (3 meter) straight USB-to-Lightning connector cable – $29.99

Various other brands such as Belkin and Scosche have also announced Lightning supported accessories for Apple’s latest generation of iPhones, iPods and iPads. As far as I remember, none of them have a 3 meter long charge/sync cable with Lightning connector. Griffin is also the first official manufacture to make the Lightning connector charging cables. We’ve seen unofficial ones, but Apple has strict control over Lightning supported cables and accessories.

You can buy the new Griffin charge/sync cables with Lightning connector over here. They are currently not available, but will arrive as soon as next week. Griffin recommends that you use these cables with the Griffin PowerBlock for the best results.

still way to much for just a charging cable. $5 is more my tastes for charging only cable.
